Emergency response pressure in Utrecht during stormy weather

Stormy weather with strong winds and rain put pressure on emergency services in the province of Utrecht, where several trees were reported to have fallen. The Utrecht Safety Region said firefighters were dealing with the consequences of the weather.

In Utrecht, the air-raid alarm did not sound the following Monday because the central control room was too busy handling regular emergency calls, Mayor Sharon Dijksma said in the city council. The Utrecht Safety Region had earlier declined to say why the alarm had not been activated.
