The commander of the Navy in the Caribbean announced that the Dutch Ministry of Defence would immediately assist the Sint Maarten police in combating crime. Defence personnel in the Caribbean will support the local police in the coming period. It is the fifth time in more than two years that the island has requested military assistance from the Netherlands.
