Dispute over gates on the Rhine cycle path

Recently installed pendulum gates on the cycle path along the Rhine between Leiderdorp and Hazerswoude-Rijndijk were intended to make the route safer for cyclists. Kees de Boer, a 90-year-old resident of Achterhovenerweg, said he feared they could create more dangerous situations. The cyclists’ association agreed with his criticism, while the responsible alderman rejected it.
