A debate was presented over whether shops throughout the Netherlands should be allowed to open on Sundays. The discussion contrasted increasingly active Sundays, with open shops, busy terraces and people sending messages, with the view that at least one day a week should remain reserved for rest, family and faith.

The question of whether Sunday should be treated like any other day off or remain a day of rest was left open.
