D66 called on Interior Minister Pieter Heerma of the CDA to set out plans to address suffering caused by slavery. During a debate on the legacy of slavery, D66 representative Mpanzu Bamnga said the minister had lacked decisiveness.

The VVD and CDA took a more cautious position and stressed the importance of recognition.
