Austrian cyclist Valentina Cavallar said she underwent a doping control last month, only hours after saying goodbye to her seriously ill mother. The test took place in a room next to the one where her mother had died.

Cavallar said she supports clean sport but described the timing and setting as painful, inappropriate and disrespectful to her family. She said humanity, compassion and respect should not be forgotten.
