Cyber incident disrupts Albert Heijn deliveries

A cyber incident that began on Sunday was reported to have left shelves increasingly empty at Albert Heijn stores, particularly in Bergen op Zoom and Tilburg. Fresh products such as vegetables, fruit and meat were difficult to obtain, while employees spread available goods across shelves to conceal gaps. Albert Heijn expected its distribution centres to resume operations on Wednesday, and deliveries of sustainable products had restarted, but the recovery of fresh-product supplies remained uncertain. Jumbo, Picnic, Lidl and Plus were reportedly seeing more customers as a result.

The same account also reported that bus services in Brabant were severely reduced because of a one-day strike by regional-transport bus drivers, drivers and office staff. Arriva said only 10 to 15 percent of buses were operating. Unions planned one day of action each week until Christmas over stalled collective-labour negotiations, including work pressure, an age-related scheme and wage demands; the date of the next strike had not yet been announced.
