Dozens of children and parents in Hoek protested over the stalled construction of a new school and childcare facility, using colouring pages and letters to draw attention to the delay. Parents said the current childcare building has damp walls, mice and mould in the corridor, and becomes unbearably hot in summer.

The alderman was unable to say when construction of the multifunctional accommodation, which is to house the school and childcare, would resume.
