A Flemish minister visited Roosteren and expressed concern about the situation around the bridges near the Dutch-Belgian border. A new bridge over the Meuse between Roosteren and Maaseik is being built, but there is still no solution for the outdated bridge over the Juliana Canal, which is closed to heavy traffic. The minister and the mayors of Echt-Susteren and Maaseik said the busy cross-border connection was under pressure.
