Compensation dispute over Marknesse Zuid land allotments

A reported land-allotment problem in the Marknesse Zuid development area left dozens of households uncertain for years about who had lawfully acquired their plots. The municipality of Noordoostpolder was found to be responsible for the confusion and promised compensation of up to €1,000 for additional costs. Four of the 45 eligible households have so far requested compensation. The payment is intended as a gesture and does not constitute recognition of liability; applicants must prove the additional costs they incurred. Notaries reportedly refused to execute deeds, mortgages could not be arranged or expanded, and some moves could not proceed.
