Researcher Mariken de Wit of Wageningen University & Research concluded that climate change in Europe can lead to larger outbreaks of West Nile virus and the related Usutu virus. Her thesis is due to be defended on Thursday.

According to the university, the findings can help improve preparation for future outbreaks in the Netherlands.
