Christien Meindertsma wins inaugural Paul Deiters Prize

Designer Christien Meindertsma was named the first winner of the new, three-year Paul Deiters Prize by Stichting Stokkroos. The award is worth €120,000, divided equally between a cash prize and funding for new work. The winner may also present work in a museum; Meindertsma is scheduled to do so at an exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Den Haag next year.

Meindertsma has worked as a designer for about 20 years and focuses on materials including flax and wool, as well as research projects examining production, materials and social issues. The prize is named after businessman and art collector Paul Deiters, who founded Stichting Stokkroos to support visual artists, designers and craftspeople.
