Companies in the east of the Netherlands expressed concern about the economic effects of low river levels and called on the national government to draw up an action plan. They said the situation in 2026 must not be repeated.

One report said the companies want work on the lock at Eefde accelerated, arguing that its scheduled completion in 2033 is too late.
