Breast cancer screening information wall installed in Bergen op Zoom

The Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) is using an interactive information wall in Bergen op Zoom to explain the advantages and disadvantages of breast cancer screening. The wall, made up of rotatable blocks, addresses questions about pain, the benefits and limitations of screening, and the meaning of the results. Bergen op Zoom is the first municipality in Noord-Brabant to host it, following Landgraaf and Enschede.

RIVM said the wall is intended to help women make an informed, voluntary choice rather than persuade them to participate. It said about 1.2 million women in the Netherlands are invited to screening each year, with roughly 65% taking part. The wall is scheduled to be at the De Zeeland shopping centre on 21 October from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with RIVM staff available to answer questions.
