Avesteyn lost 0-1 to Rhode on Sunday in a match that reunited both clubs with former coaches. Theo van Lieshout, who coached Rhode until last season, was in charge of Avesteyn, while Rhode coach Lenard Weber had previously been with Avesteyn.

Avesteyn had undergone substantial changes over the summer, including a new squad and a new captain. Guus Barten, 20, was given the role of leading the renewed team.
