An attempt was made to set fire to a home in Boxmeer during the night from Monday to Tuesday by pushing flammable material through the letterbox. A curtain behind the front door caught fire but was quickly extinguished. An attempt involving a work van outside also initially failed, while a later account said the van was on fire. The resident said there had first been loud noise outside, followed by someone pulling a security camera from the door and, hours later, a loud bang inside the apartment.

The resident believes the incident was targeted but is not reporting it out of fear. Police had not identified a suspect, according to a spokesperson.
