Mels van B., 47, appealed only the sentence imposed on him in the Barendrecht sex abuse case, a hearing in The Hague showed. In March, a court sentenced him to 18 years in prison and detention under a hospital order with compulsory treatment for years of serious sexual abuse of young girls.
