Amsterdam is investing €2.5 million in five neighbourhood centres in Zuidoost, West, Zuid, Noord and Nieuw-West to provide places where residents can meet. The municipality said the investment responds to a need for such facilities as the city changes and grows.
A new Huis van de Wijk is planned on Abcoudepad in the H-buurt of Zuidoost and is expected to be completed by 2028. The city also plans a centre at Dijkgraafplein in Nieuw-West with the Wijkprakte team, a new centre in Tuindorp Nieuwendam, and renovations of centres in the Frederik Hendrikbuurt and Buitenveldert to improve accessibility and neighbourhood connections.
