Amsterdam 3x3 team wins Bucharest World Tour event

Amsterdam’s 3x3 basketball team won the World Tour event in Bucharest on Sunday, its second World Tour victory of the year after winning in Vienna in June. The team consisted of Worthy de Jong, Jan Driessen, Daen van Tilborg and Maarten Bouwknecht. De Jong decided both the semi-final and the final with a late two-pointer, including a buzzer-beater in the final against Spain’s Fuengirola.

Amsterdam defeated Hangzhou 16–13 and Miami 21–18 on the way to the final. De Jong scored 16 points in the semi-final and finished the tournament with 46 points, the highest total of any player. With the final tied and three seconds remaining, his two-pointer secured the win. Amsterdam is currently second in the World Tour standings, with the competition held at 17 locations; 14 teams will qualify for the finals in Rio de Janeiro.
