Allluminous light art festival opens in Almere

The fifth edition of the Allluminous light art festival opened in Almere on Friday evening in wet and cold weather. Visitors followed the artworks along a 5.5-kilometre route around the Weerwater, including a 150-metre-long light course, illuminated windmills, the illuminated Weerwater Bridge and an aquarium featuring holograms of fish. Eighteen light artworks are on display for nine days, including installations described as more extensive than in previous editions. The route can be walked but is no longer accessible by bicycle; a shuttle boat is available for visitors who do not want to cover the full distance. Despite the rain and wind at the opening, visitors came to see the works, with several installations attracting particular attention.
