One in five recent university master’s theses was reportedly written mostly by a chatbot rather than by the student. The finding came from research into five theses, and students also acknowledged using AI to write their work; the theses included papers by future lawyers and lecturers.

Education Minister Letschert described the use as fraud and said universities should intervene.
