Twenty-seven homes in a residential block on Zuiderzeestraat in Den Helder were evacuated after a gas leak was reported. Firefighters confirmed the presence of gas, and network operator Liander located the leak; it still needs to be sealed.

Forty residents were accommodated in a neighbourhood centre. Several residents who had inhaled gas fumes were treated by ambulance staff.
